You Need To Be Cleaning Your Vegetable Garden Plants. (Yes, Really)

You hopefully already know to clean your produce, whether from the store or from your own backyard vegetable garden, before slicing it up to serve in your latest salad. But according to Sunshine Chapman, the president of Garden Works, if you're a true plant parent, you'll go one step further and clean the leaves of your plants while they're growing to clear off dust and debris. "Dust and dirt can block sunlight from reaching the leaves and can lead to plant damage," Chapman explained to Chowhound. "When you clean your edible plants, their leaves are able to photosynthesize more efficiently."

These Cotton-Lined Dish Gloves Make Cleaning Feel Like a Dream

"Made with sturdy vinyl, these gloves are durable and flexible. They protect my hands from household cleaners and hot, soapy water, and the tiny grooves along the palm and fingertips of the gloves provide extra grip for holding on to fragile china—a thoughtful detail for someone as clumsy as I am. Lined with 100% cotton, the interior of the gloves is soft and comfortable and wearing them while I do the dishes almost makes cleanup feel like a luxurious experience." Read the full article here.

Tomatoes Are Grown Differently In Florida: Try The Easy Weaving Method Anywhere

"Chowhound spoke exclusively with Sunshine Chapman, gardening expert and president of Garden Works. It turns out that creating your own version of a Florida weave is relatively simple. "First, drive wood or metal stakes into the ground at regular intervals to create a row," she said. "Next, take some twine and weave it in a figure-eight pattern along one side of the plants and back on the other." This step ensures the plants remain close to one another while remaining structured along a string system that doesn't crush or impede their growth." Read more here.

Are Strawberries Best Grown In The Garden Or In A Pot?

"Sunshine Chapman, the President of Garden Works told Chowhound to consider your soil, sun, and space when making the call. Have rich, fertile soil and plenty of space, in an area that gets sunlight most of the day? Plant 'em in the garden. If you either lack the garden space or have concerns with the soil quality, shade versus sun levels, or live in particularly hot or cold climates that limit growing seasons, pots may be your best bet. "You may want the control over growing conditions that containers provide," Chapman says."Read more here.
